Addicted to Art

I am from Finland, but now I belong also to California, since I have been living here already for five years. When I was a child, we picked blueberries and camped in the wilderness. I also loved to draw, especially flowers and princesses. As a teenager, I spent most of my free time cross country skiing and orienteering; running or skiing in the forest with a map and compass finding points.

I like bathing in a sauna and swimming in a lake. Hiking and taking my daughter's dog Maya to the dog park are among the most relaxing activities for me. Sometimes I also like to knit and crochet. If I have coffee and sparkling water available, I can do anything. I have always been interested in clothing and interior design. Many of my clothes and furniture are bought second hand, thrift shopping is ecological, entertaining, and good for your budget, too. My husband and three adult daughters are vegan and so am I. We built our house in Finland by hand.

I studied weaving and fabric design in Länsi-Uudenmaan Koulutuskeskus in Finland for three years. I have been taking classes at College of San Mateo since 2015, including 39 units of art, with more in progress, but also anthropology and sociology, through which I learned more about different cultures, equality, minorities, and diversities. I love to paint with oil and I am addicted to it.
