Displacement

The theme of this series is a hope to get close to someone, disillusion, and gradual failing of defense mechanisms, resulting in strong rejection.

The first four paintings are silent but strong. There is a doorway open and maybe someone or something waiting for you to walk in. That turns out to be a misunderstanding and you only walk through a narrow corridor without really connecting with the other person, but there is still hope. Gradually displacement begins, a heavy and chilly feeling is sneaking in. In the middle of the series, you might get a feeling of being in an earthquake or a turmoil of feelings. Finally a feeling of rejection is understood and defense mechanisms are not working any more. You will start to cope with the situation and have a feeling of heaviness, but in a quiet way. Time to heal...
